Kevin Rowell

Kevin Rowell is an expert in construction technology, disaster recovery, and operating human settlements. As well, Co-Founder of United Refuge, a US based non profit supporting at risk communities on the front lines of the worlds most complex disasters.

He recently supported the people of Ukraine displaced by the escalation of Russia’s Invasion most recently working with Alight (formerly, American Refugee Committee). He co-authored Alights Constellation program which uses a human centered approach to connecting resources networks and people in need with a concierge level approach. “The result is a program that supports our displaced clients on their journey to the future of their choice in new locations or back home to rebuild.”

Following the fall of Afghanistan in 2021 he supported the construction and operation of a 12,000 person temporary refugee camp in New Jersey, bringing operational systems, key staff, supply chain connections, and helping formulate the quality assurance and emergency management strategies.

Working as a technical advisor to the United Nations (International Organization of Migration shelter NFI team in Bangladesh), he was instrumental in helping develop a sustainable housing strategy for the largest refugee camp in the world, including construction of the worlds largest bamboo processing facility which supported the construction of emergency housing.

Kevin excels at the oversight of building and operating temporary settlements. He thrives when deploying on short notice into complex scenarios with minimal information. He supports teams from any position by fostering teamwork to “build the plane while in flight.”

In 2004 he co-founded the Natural Builders, a licensed General Construction Company. Combining his passion for sustainability and commitment to improving the lives of beings. He’s licensed in International building code, contract law, and committed to quality assurance.

Kevin Rowell grew up in Michigan and as a teenager moved to California to be a Zen Monk. After years of organic farming and staring at a wall, he decided to “get off his cushion and try to help people.”
